Dodo Flies Past The 1TB Crowd

Gizmodo AU

With a 3TB monthly plan. Whether you’d want that much, or from Dodo at all is another question entirely.

When the first 1TB plan was announced by iiNet, we wondered who would, staying within the bounds of legality, use that much data each and every month. Since then, iPrimus, TPG and Internode have all joined the 1TB-per-month-plan crew.

Dodo doesn’t have the best reputation amongst ISPs (see for example Whirlpool’s discussions on Dodo here for plenty of examples) but not to be outdone, late last week a whopping 3TB plan popped up on Dodo’s plan page. It’ll set you back $38.95/month plus a mandatory line rental fee in suburban areas, rising to $79.85/month plus phone in regional areas.

What’s also odd about this particular plan is that for 5c more, you could opt for Dodo’s unlimited plan, although again, that might not be your best option. Given the concerns and complaints I’ve heard from ex-Dodo customers, I don’t know if I’ll be lining up for a plan any time soon, but the pressure is back on the other big players — will we see more 3TB plans pop up in response?

This is getting rediculous, Who would use 3TB a month just in home use without being an “accidental” pirate.

It doesn’t even interest me. I’ve got no reason to use that much data and from such a badly reviewed ISP. How about they have a 1TB plan and improve their product quality.

Currently with Dodo I can confirm they have the worst service of ANY company I have ever en-counted.

I would rather get kicked in the testicles than go through the pain, regret and anguish of joining up with them again.

That said I do have Dodo to thank for all the wonderful friends I have made down at the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.

I’m with Dodo and as long as you dont have to call them it works well enough. Call them though and once the person on the other end of the line gets to the end of their technical flow chart and can’t solve the problem the brown stuff hits the fan, useless. When my contract ends in April so will my business with Dodo

5 more cents for unlimited data?
Am I missing something here or would it be completely stupid for someone to choose 3TB over Unlimited?

And a side note: Dodo can’t be that bad. Have you ever tried setting up your internet with iiNet? It took around 2-3 weeks to ship our router while they had disconnected our phone lines and internet. So internetless for a few weeks (In an area that gets no mobile phone signal) We waited and waited for the phone call to tell us the internet had been set up.
All the while it has been set up. They just don’t have the decency to call and tell.
Let alone setting it up when you can’t understand what the other person is saying when you’re struggling to find reception.

I’m with iiNet and have to say they have the best support out of any ISP I’ve been with so far (Optus, Telstra Bigpond, TPG and some smaller ISPs). If you have a problem that phoning in won’t fix, go on whirlpool forums and post there. I bet you within a day, usually a few hours max, someone from iiNet will get on the case and provide you with all the info you want. I do see some bad problems on those forums, but many are due to Telstra.

    The plan is $39.85, not $38.95 :S
