VHA Launches New App To See Who’s On Your Network

Gizmodo AU

One of the big developments with the merger between Vodafone and Three in Australia was the fact that many plans now include free calls to anyone on either network. But how do you know which friends are on which network? A new iPhone and Android app for Voda and Three customers will scan your contacts to see which people you can call for free.

The Who2Call app, which is a free download via both Android and iTunes marketplaces, emulates the appearance of your phone’s contact app, and automatically syncs across all your contact information when installed, adding a Voda or 3 logo next to applicable names.

I don’t know if this is likely to increase phone calls across the VHA networks, but at least it’s good to know if you’re getting something for free.

No. Vodafone and 3 only have the ability to recognise there own customer’s numbers.

Is it just me, or is this a bit of an invasion of privacy.

I don’t want my friends knowing what network I am on.

Big deal. That information was already readily available, if you know where to find it.

I’ve got this, and i think it’s a joke. My wife’s with Voda and it doesn’t show her in my contacts. I think it just looks at the first 4 digits of your phone number and judges from there. Harking back to the old days of each network being given a specific set to work with.
Unfortunately porting put an end to easily working this out.
BTW, you’re friends with a socceroo & the lead singer of ACDC?!

Have you made sure your partners number is just 10 digits without anything breaking the number up?

I had a friend who imported his contacts from his e71 to his nexus and it didn’t work until he removed all the ‘-’ from certain numbers.

e.g 04xx-xxx-xxx won’t be picked up as a number as the app itself isn’t smart enough to ignore dash’s.

      Neat all the same though

Tony, the v1.1 update that went through earlier this week was wrongly added as an iOS4.0 only build. A new 1.2 update is with Apple at the moment, and along with some improvements, also brings back iOS3.0+ compatibility. Sorry for the hassle, hope you download it and give it a a go when you can. Cheers.
