Remember those photos from Apple showing their amazing foam padded reception testing rooms? Well, Telstra’s got one of their own, plus a guy called Warwick who tests every single Telstra handset’s antenna performance.
The video was published by Telstra a few weeks ago in the days before the iPhone 4 launch, but it’s still worth watching for an insight not only into what handsets are worthy of a “Blue Tick”, but how the testing on all mobile phones is done. Oh, and the fact that Warwick has tested every single phone on Telstra over the past 15 years – so if there hasn’t been a new phone on Next G for a while, we now know who to blame…

Monday, August 9, 2010 at 11:52 AMWow, Apple released “Face Time”, this is new and great. Better check it out and analyse the network usage etc..

Monday, August 9, 2010 at 3:10 PMWhy is there always some moron that has to change a reasonable discussion to “lets throw some shit at Apple”? Even when it has nothing to do with it.
Also for morons that don’t know what facetime is, as opposed to a video call. Video calls use a different protocol that costs a fortune. Think of it as a video version of a normal voice call. Facetime is a video version of VOIP (voice over internet protocol), that is, it uses the data layer on you plan and does not effect your talking time. And as it currently only works over wifi, it doesn’t cost you a cent (unless your paying for the wifi).
Please excuse my grumpiness. I just hate discussions going of topic.

Monday, August 9, 2010 at 6:12 PM@olearymo has it right… anechoic chambers of aany persuasion are far from new and (well, they are exciting).
There’s even one in an industrial estate not far from where I live where they do various a-tick, and c-tick certification among others.
But they are cool to work and play in.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 7:10 PMFunny enough. Telstra gave the iPhone 4 the Blue Rural Tick. But you know according to Gizmodo we have antenna issues; which I can’t recreate.
I think its all bullshit and just crappy AT&T combined with sweaty Gizmodo hands.
