Oregon Scientific ATC9k Helmet Camera

Oregon Scientific’s new ATC9k sports camera has a double Mctwist’s worth of tricks, starting with 1080p at 60 frames per second, GPS, accelerometer and water resistance to 18m.

It also has the LCD, visual effects (like negative and vivid picture modes) and 5MP cameras. There are mounts for handlebars and helmets, and a slightly wide 130-degree field of view, which is wide enough to capture action and reduce jitters, without being so wide that big jumps look small on playback. For $US299, it seems like a contender, although a few more mounting options and a slightly wider viewing angle would be my preference. [Oregon Scientific via Crunchgear]

really great little camera for the quality of output and general build quality. Took it out in the water to test the waterproof features attached to my surfboard in very small waves (not even 2 foot). The camera attachment stayed on for about 5 minutes then just came off. So now no camera. I suggest anyone who purchases this for use on a surfboard forget it, the method of attachment is clearly flawed. I should have made my own tether of some kind. Live and learn.
