How To Watch The Greatest Space Show Today

Today is the peak of the Perseids meteor shower. Together with the Leonids meteor shower, it’s the greatest celestial show this side of an aurora borealis. To get the most out of it, you just need to follow three simple steps:

• Make sure you are in the proper location. If you are outside the red area, you are fine:

The higher you are in the hemisphere, the best.

• Grab a large blanket and a bag with wine/beer, some good sandwiches and your lover/best friend. Condoms and/or weed are optional.

• Go out the city and away from any light source. Go into the countryside. Set the blanket, lay down looking up and look up to the skies.

You will be overwhelmed by the amount of shooting stars. Enjoy. [NASA and APOD]

Hey if you’re in the red zone AND you’ve got weed, you don’t really need the lights to actually BE in the sky do you!

overwhelmed -no , 12 meteors from 00.15 – 0130 is not in the realms of 45-100 per hour peak (as reported by some websites)?
Of the 12, four were impressive , long bright traverse across a starlit sky in southern England, for those it was worth staying up!
