Apparently a new version of the Facebook iPhone app should be available later today, and it’ll bring a new feature called Places. The feature basically sounds like a check-in function similar to that found in Foursquare and Gowalla. [TechCrunch]

Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 3:47 PMYeah the update is good either way it seems to fix a few bugs in the iPhone app. Like the news feed.
Wish they had gone global at launch, I want to play with it!

Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 2:25 PMSo I have a jailbroken US iPhone 4, running on Optus. This update was downloaded and installed, and now it won’t connect to anything. I see the new ‘Places’ icon, but if I go into the news feed, it fails to load, can’t open the inbox, nada. This sucks, I might actually have to find a life until its fixed!

Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 10:28 PMI’ve got exactly the same problem. I don’t think having an iPhone from the US is causing the problem, as I’ve got an Australian iPhone, my MSP being Optus, and trying to access anything on the Fb app gives me an error.
