Nick gave you guys a pretty comprehensive look at what IPTV service FetchTV will include when it rolls out on iiNet and other carriers. But there was one question he didn’t address: will the channel line-up eventually include adult content? Or to put it more bluntly: where’s the porn?
Nick himself is far too much of a gentleman to have asked the question. I don’t suffer from those constraints, so it was practically the first thing I asked FetchTV during their media briefings last week.
The official answer? It’s pretty unlikely. Because the company operates a series of broadcast licences, it could only offer R-rated content in limited timeslots. Exactly what that rating might allow could be open to debate given the government investigation into the RC category, but I don’t think anyone’s anticipating wall-to-wall MILF orgies on broadcast TV in the near future.
However, I think the last word on the subject goes to iiNet’s CTO Greg Bader. “If you’ve already got an Internet connection and you can’t find adult content, you’ve got bigger issues.” Quite.
