Prince Declares The Internet “Completely Over”

title=Senator Stephen Conroy can stop panicking about all that online porn. It doesn’t matter, because the Internet is dead. How do we know? Because Prince has told us.

The Artist Formerly Known As Sane issued his pronouncement in an interview with UK newspaper the Daily Mirror, which not-so-coincidentally is running a giant giveaway of Prince’s latest album this Saturday. At one point, Prince’s entire music distribution vision centred on selling music online, so why the change of heart?

The internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.

Now, you might not think that the funk midget with the penchant for purple is the last word on the subject (or any subject), especially given the reason he cites for this pronouncement:

Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.

It’s worth remembering that this anti-numerical stance is coming from a man who once tattooed the word ‘slave’ on his face because he wasn’t earning enough money, and who more recently threatened to sue fans running web sites about him. But given how selective Conroy has been in receiving advice on anything related to technology, seeking the final word from Prince doesn’t seem entirely unlikely. Let’s go crazy!
