Beware Of Snow Globes

You’ve got to hand it to the TSA: when they identify a threat, they do NOT mess around. Know this before you even think about carrying a snow globe through the security checkpoint at LaGuardia.

OK, to be fair, snow globes do contain liquid and can be used as projectiles and are often just a little garish, you know? So I can agree that they probably don’t belong on a plane. But singling them out at the airport feels a little like putting up a No Swedish Toddlers sign at a nightclub. [Laughing Squid]

The Lifehacker guy in the ad looks like Elijah Wood mixed with Tobey Maguire.

Well it’s either Elijah Maguire staring into my soul in ways that scare me or that Subway Steak-man giving me an emasculating glance that makes me unsure if I was ever a real man. I’m not too sure what is worse…

My friend had them confiscated last time we left the states. They don’t let you take them with carry-on luggage. Cargo is fine though.
So maybe it is okay, putting a picture up of a snow-globe might actually get people to read them. :P

Haha … why can’t we have the same rules on all airports. Isn’t there a standard security which should be applicable for all airports. Always different rules. Take off shoes … or leave them on … what about the belt … the stroller needs to be scanned … or sometimes not … cameras are checked for function (make sure you have batteries charged) … sometimes … ahhh

Just brought 2 medium sized snowglobes from Paris home … hand luggage. I even asked upfront if it is possible or if I need to check in my luggage. All fine in Paris …

Yeah, I had a problem with this too. Since they do contain liquid you can’t carry them onto a plane. Had a friend almost miss his flight because of it!

Probably better if they mention this when you check your baggage in, however.
