Australia Post Finally Does An iPhone App

Gizmodo AU

Considering just how versatile Australia Post stores are (you can buy Playstation2 games in some stores), it’s surprising it has taken so long for them to create a dedicated iPhone app. But now they have.

The app will let you calculate postage, find a postcode, track your item, pay a bill or get information and offers directly to your phone. It will also let you find your nearest post office or post box, which is a service I’ve needed on at least three occasions before.

There’s also a new mobile version of their website for other smartphones, should your handset not be of the Apple persuasion.

From what I see in the provided options, I don’t see why they didn’t just make this a web-app. Like the Netbank site. Makes it cross-platform so everyone can benefit.

“There’s also a new mobile web version of their website for other smartphones, should your handset not be of the Apple persuasion.” – Seems to me there is a web version!

It’s also available for the ipad now as well. Although I wish you could do more with it.

I find it hilarious that Apple users need to have “an app for that” when everyone else can do fine with a browser based service. How many silly little apps do you want lol?
