Testing stock browsers found within Android 2.2 (Nexus One) and iOS 4 (iPhone 4), ars technica discovered that there’s no comparison in JavaScript performance. But DoodleJump plays a bit smoother on my iPhone, which is 99 per cent of what really matters. [arstechnica]

Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 9:56 AMwell, I would like to come out and say how much better an OS (performance wise) android is. but in reality it just comes down to the fact that Google are the javaScript masters! I mean the love affair with it, and its big brother language has been going on for years, so much so that the jeopardized the performance of Android just so they coudl use Java.
on that note, what I really can’t wait to see is the difference in performance between java android apps, going from 2.1 to 2.2. JIT compiling is a big deal, it means that Java should be just as fast as native code, which is what the iphone uses. (be careful though, because I’m sure many games use the NDK, which is a native c++ sdk for android. they would use this because it makes games infinitely easier to port from iphone than converting to java. anything using this will NOT see the speed increase from the addition of JIT compiling.)

Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 12:11 PMBenchmarks are one thing, but as Engadget showed real world performance actually has the iPhone come out on top with some sites and tied with others.
In reality they are very close with real world performance.

Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 3:52 PMFrom your link “… it’s still a win for Android.” They concluded that iPhone was beaten. How the hell did you conclude otherwise?
Engadget performed page load tests with iPhone 4 against Nexus One with Froyo and again with Flash disabled.
Round 1.
Engadget – iOs win
New York Times – Froyo win
gdgt – Even
The Onion – Even
BBC News – Even
Round 2. (Flash disabled)
Engadget – Froyo win
New York Times – Froyo win
gdgt – Froyo win
The Onion – Froyo win
BBC News – Even
Conclusion:
Round 1 produced 3 draws and 1 win to each device.
Round 2 produced 1 draw and 4 wins to Nexus One.
That’s a total of 5 wins for Android vs 1 win for iPhone.
To paraphrase , “Android 2.2 Dusts iOS 4 In *Browser* Performance.”

Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 12:52 PMWhat a joke. Its funny how Gizmodo reports the news, but almost ALL of their articles are PRO Apple its not even funny. At least take a look at it in an unbiased view. This is so similar to the Australia broadcast of the world cup when Australia were playing. The commentators I understand are to support Australians, but make it less obvious please. Look at the EPL, 2 commentators, either one not taking any sides.
Oh and since everyones doing it: Android > iOS :P
