A Knife Made From Fibre Optic Glass

This beautiful handmade knife is shaped entirely from fibre optic glass. You know, the stuff that gives us super fast internet. A knifemaker used a process called knapping, a throwback method of shaping stones into useful tools, to form it.

Knapping is considered art, and I’d totally agree with this if I didn’t think the knife sort of looked like Jello. Beautiful, sweet Jello that could stab you. You can buy your own fibre optic knife for $US165. [Make via Crunchgear]

reminds me of the Venetian Glass Blowers back in the early years, when glass blowing was such a giant secret. If one of the glass blowers tried to leave the profession or someone unauthorized found out about the glass blowers, they would take a knife made of glass, stab the victim and break off the handle, causing the glass to slide deeper into the victim and being unable to be removed.
