The iPhone 4′s antenna problem continues. People around the world keep experiencing it. So many that a class action suit is already in the works. This video proves that a simple touch affects web page loading, stopping it completely.
As you can clearly see here, this problem is not just about the iPhone 4 not displaying full bars, but it’s about real data loss. It’s pretty simple: Leaving the phone on the table loads the web page at full speed. Touching the problematic area, pauses the loading of the web page.
We have already experienced this problem ourselves many times, with mail and voice call drops and voice degradation, but this video is pretty damning evidence about how it works. Since it’s a design problem – and the antenna is all around the phone, making it hard to avoid unless you have a bumper or force your hand position – it will affect everyone at some point, unless you are really close to a cell tower.
While the iPhone 4 is a great phone, this problem affects at least 40 per cent of the iPhone buyers – according to most web polls – and as high as 93 per cent of users according to a recent UK-based poll.
Apple hasn’t yet provided with a fix except recommending to “hold the iPhone in a different way” or “buy a case”.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 6:52 AMThis is getting old. For all of you iPhone haters your false claims are not working! The iPhone 4 is still selling like hot cakes! I have the iPhone 4 and my friends have the iPhone 4 and we have no issues at all. The iPhone 4 has the antenna located in the same spot that all cell phones have their antenna located and that is at the bottom! It is required by the FCC that all cell phones have the antenna placed at a point farthest away from the head and this would be the bottom of the phone!

Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 10:04 AMIf the phone is faulty, return it! If Apple won’t take it with a full refund then go through the correct complaints process with the relevant consumer authority. What we don’t need is a bunch of idiots taking a company to court because they want to keep a faulty phone and want all their money back. Return the device and buy another phone. There are some good alternatives available; buy one of them instead.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11:45 AMChad, pointing out fundamental flaws in a device is not hating. You’re also wrong in saying where the iPhone antenna is, it’s not at the absolute bottom like other devices, it’s at the side and more importantly, exposed, meaning it’s easy to stop the signal inadvertently. Besides, if the number of sales is indicative of the quality of something, I suppose McDonald’s must make the best food in the world, right?

Reality is just too much for some people to handle I guess.

I don’t think people’s claims of faulty iPhones is intended to diminish sales of the iPhone as you seem to imply. Accusing them of false claims shows how foolish you are when they provide evidence to back up their claims.
Are you saying the video in this post is fabricated? You’re probably one of those people that don’t believe we’ve landed on the moon.
Face it, the problem is real and affects enough people that it can not be dismissed as an isolated issue or manufacturing defect or as you would put it – a lie.
Good for you that you and your friends have working iPhones. Shouldn’t you be more sympathetic to your fellow iPhone users that are having these issues?
