Speed has been one of the oft-talked about points of the upcoming 3DS, but according to “several developers” who spoke to IGN, it’ll have processing speeds similar to that of the PS3 and Xbox 360.
IGN said they’ve heard the speed of the 3DS will “far exceed the Nintendo Wii”, which runs on an IBM Broadway 90nm SOI CMOS processor, clocked at 729MHz. The 3DS has been rumoured to include an NVIDIA Tegra chip, but IGN’s developer sources have told the website those rumours are actually false.
Anyone else get the feeling these 3DS rumourmongerers are just throwing any old much-hoped-for spec at the launch, hoping something will stick? [IGN via Kotaku]

For all who didnt know, the xbox and ps3 actually had forgone money in order to sell their consoles as – especially for the ps3- they had sold the consoles for a CHEAPER price than manufacturing. Whereas the rip ass wii, made tremendous profits through downgrading their little piece of shit.
I hate my wii….but thank god it now stays where it should have been made…the toilet

How is the Wii a scam? It didn’t need to have a fast processor, so it doesn’t have one. Not terribly hard logic there. Processor speed has nothing to do with the quality of the games. If you want a media center you just buy a ps3 or 360 as well. Sounds like you’re one of the tech-spec nerds that gaming needs to move beyond if its going to really become important in society.

1,it maybe a hybrid handheld/console thats why the high power is there
2, in relative terms i.e a 4 inch screen handheld it has ps3 x360 like power COMMONSENSE you dont need ps3 power for ps3 level visuals on a 4 inch screen TRY THINKING INSTEAD OF HD CONSOLE FANBOYING wii power at 4 inch’s plus 3d would look like a ps3 game thats kinda obvious to a thinking person
again it could be a powerful handheld that scales up in power FOR HD TV OUT wii controls gaming HELL it migfht even have to connect to a wii for tv out
