Looks Like Telstra’s Shareholders Don’t Have A Problem With The NBN Agreement

Gizmodo AU

Telstra’s shares up 4% after yesterday’s NBN announcement? Doesn’t seem like they’ll have too much of a problem convincing shareholders to sign it off next year then. [ComputerWorld]

    That comment is completely illconsidered.

If you remember how Telstra fell over the last 12 months with each accompanying utterance from Conroy then you would realise that a mere 4% does not begin to compensate for Conroy’s extortion. [And yes when you extort even an extortioner its still call extortion]

It’s a simple math problem of tracing the price falls immediately folling Conroy’s annoumcements which total well over 75c per share and then comparing that to the 10c gain today….. In my book we are still net negative well over 50c per share….

Getting them to agree to use a slightly smaller screwdriver on your screw does not mean your screw will not still be screwed.

Furthermore shareholders like details- and for that matter so do Independent Experts. Nothing we heard over the last couple of days in anyway qualifies for as justifying a Fairness opinion. I agree with Simon Hackett: We got to hear a press release not a deal.

Agree with Andrew, this 2 liner ‘news’ which is summarised from an actually decent article at Computerworld is completely misleading.

Shares always go up with the announcements of potential huge $$ deals. That has nothing to do with the actual shareholders who are holding onto their shares, it just means more people want to buy than sell at the moment.

And if the Liberals get in they vow to strap the NBN. Then what happens?
