Download iTunes 9.2 and run a manual backup (right click on your phone in iTunes, hit backup). This way you won’t have to spend time doing all these mundane housekeeping tasks tomorrow. And if you’re looking for what’s new, here’s a good place to start. Then you can head here, which adds more minor features we found while actually playing with it. [iPhone]

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 3:34 PMHey Alex. Apple mentioned it on their keynote when they introduced the iPhone 4. They said it would be available to iPads, iPhones and Ipod touches (not all features will run on iPads and the old 3G Iphone), on the 21st of June. Thats how they know :)
Hope that helps

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 3:35 PMI’ve had it installed the last couple of weeks (via the 9.2 beta and gumballtech’s helpful advice), and I’m pretty damn happy with it. It feels slightly more nippy, the multitasking is awesome (although closing the app you’re in has a process which is oddly un-Apple-like) and the camera app now takes photos near instantaneously. I’d love to see how the 4 runs it. :D

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 3:45 PMIt would be more worthwhile for Gizmodo to tell us when it’s available and a jailbreak has been released to the public.
Otherwise, who cares about an OS update for a crippled device?

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 3:53 PMI asked Apple AU’s in-house PR about this the other week. They replied:
“I believe the free iOS 4 upgrade is June 21 US timing so around June 22 for Australia.”

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 5:10 PMCan anyone tell me what time the update would be available in Australia? 3am? Are you sure?

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 5:19 PMunfortunately it will not be available for iPad tomorrow.
As detailed in the keynote, the iPad update will be seeded in August as it has taken longer to produce.
Also iPad hasn’t begun beta testing so naturally, it wont be ready.

Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:35 PMPity, but probably good in a way …. Nice way of getting an even more stable OS for a more serious machine – not that Apple doesn’t do a pretty good job most of the time anyway.
