Yes, about three minutes of fact checking on Mr Ortiz’s part would have provided him with the info that iPhone 4 FaceTime videocalling is a Wi-Fi only feature, making video calling while driving pretty much impossible. Unless you’ve got a Wi-Fi hotspot in your car, you won’t be video calling anyone.
But hey, I’m glad you’re doing such important work, Ortiz. You clearly deserve to be in a place of power in our government. Keep it up. [NY Mag]

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 9:46 AMlol, heaven forbid that he think that when apple finally implement this 7 year old technology, that they actually bring out something as good as what was their before… not something thats next to useless.
also, it takes time for these things to be made into law, surely by then it will be 3G

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 9:52 AMIt may be impossible now, but it won’t always be. It makes sense to get rules in place before the technology exists. But hey, it’s fun to sarcastically mock politicians, Frucci.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 9:53 AMHe could be thinking ahead here, as Apple do have plans to extend the Facetime capability to 3G once the networks support it.
I’m pretty sure Steve Jobs stated this in his keynote…
If at which point this does occur, it’s a real legitimate concern!
You might want to check into those facts Adam!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 12:47 PMUm, what about all the other 3G video phones that have been on the market for nearly 7 years? Shouldn’t the politicians ban video calling on them as well? Or is it only worth making a political statement about a large company like Apple where you’re guaranteed to get media coverage. Morons, the lot of ‘em.

Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 9:44 AMThanks Michael, I didn’t know that. … odd to think that they’d be behind on some things. I guess it’s just business.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:13 PMAlso, if you know anything about legislation, you will realize that you can’t ban a brand name in New York State law. The proposed legislation will most likely ban all video-type chat applications while driving.
