It appears some people are still using Plurk, that Twitter rival from a couple of years ago. HTC is one of them, with their corporate account confirming that GSM HTC Heros will be getting the Android 2.1 update today. This comes after HTC pushed the update out to CDMA Heros the other week, with Sprint customers getting lucky on May 19th. [AndroidAndMe]

Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 7:05 AMStill no update to 2.1 for GSM HTC Hero. By the time we get it, the Hero will be released almost a year and Android 2.2 will be widely released. This will be my last HTC phone for sure! Too bad…

While I’ll definitely get another android phone, I’m staying away from HTC supported ones like the plague! They might have the best HW at the time they’re released but it means squat if it takes a year for an OS update.
Next time I’m getting a Google supported phone (whatever comes after Nexus hopefully)

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 3:06 PMI’m hoping that Froyo actually makes this less of an issue – its meant to be making it so that even if a manufacture skins android, the core can still be updated regardless of what they have done, isnt it? Any, I’m hoping so, cause using a phone with sense on it definitely seems a lot nicer than stock android. but, either way, I’m definitely sticking with android.
