Watch BP’s "Top Kill" Oil Spill Fix LIVE

All systems are go for BP’s top kill system, and they’re broadcasting the process live. The 21st Century: disastrous oil spills and the technology to let you watch them live. Video feed after the jump.

You can watch the view from another camera on PBS’s YouTube channel.

It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on at the moment, but at least it looks better than the endless stream of oil pumping into the ocean that the feed was showing all morning. For a detailed look at the Top Kill procedure, and its chances of succeeding, head to Jalopnik.

I am so amazed The oil spill near America can’t be stopped.
We can fix a Human heart by placing a stent through our Veins.
Why can’t we use the same principal to insert a strong balloon into the leaking pipe.
With nonslip sides to keep it still when inflated.
Then just fill it with compressed air or liquid concrete.
They have a robot in place that could do this within a day.
Just need to tailor make a Balloon!

Well John, the pressures of an oil well are far greater than the pressure your heart is pumping blood. To keep anything plugged in that well is near impossible without shutting the pressure in below the plug first. And not to mention a balloon of any sort would never do the trick. The biggest problem is the depths they are dealing with and trying to do these things with robots takes massive amounts of time.
