The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has put $US100,000 behind research into using ultrasound as a temporary contraceptive for men. If successful, it would be a means to provide low-cost, non-hormonal birth control for up to six months.
The idea is that a well-placed round of ultrasound treatment would be enough to stop sperm production for six months, rendering the subject temporarily infertile. More clinical trials are needed, to achieve “maximum effect and safety” (I should hope so), but eventually the method could be a non-invasive vasectomy alternative. Even better, it could be rolled out across both developing and first-world countries.
My guess: the hardest part will be finding clinical trial volunteers. [BBC]

Friday, May 21, 2010 at 10:37 AMOnly an uber-technogeek like Bill Gates would find the zapping of men’s testicles with an ultrasound device to render them “temporarily” sterile humane and potentially lucrative.
I have a hunch that routine diagnostic ultrasounds of the scrotum have had this collateral effect for years on men and the medical establishment has ignored this or kept it under wraps.
How about just cutting two holes in the top of a microwave oven?

Monday, May 9, 2011 at 12:20 PMBill Gates is a eugenicist piece of shit. A disgrace to humanity. A worthless, weak, pathetic little control freak. Look up his role in planned parenthood, his father’s connection, and what PP really IS – research the roots and the OPENLY ADMITTED ENDGAME of this.
Bill Gates, you and your ilk will be defeated. The dynamic, free human spirit will conquer these crimes against humanity.
