You Can Now Buy The 8GB Flip Mino HD In Australia

Gizmodo AU

I’m not surprised there was some delay considering the 8GB launched in the US at the same time the original Flip Mino and the 4GB Mino HD launched in Australia, but a whole six months? Really?

The 8GB offers 120 minutes of 720p video – twice the recording time (it does have twice the storage, after all); plus a larger LCD screen (two inches now) and can apparently upload clips straight to Facebook. It also retains the “big red button” UI that made it so well liked.

It’ll set you back $300, should you require a portable camcorder with 120 minutes worth of HD video recording.

I went ahead and bought the Kodak Zi8. Its cheaper, has support for 32gb sd cards and records at 1080p. The quality will never be as good as a top of the range camera, but for under $250, it easily beats the Mino range. I say get the Mino if you dont really care for extra bells and whistles though, as the price and quality is still good.

Just picked up the Kodak Playsport…. water proof, shock proof, 1080p, 32gb expandable memory, facebook upload. I would pref the Kodak one. flip is so restricted (and over rated).

What is the quality like after recording 720p on the Mino HD though?

Is the video quality similar to one of Ken Block’s rally vids for example?
