Here’s an unsanctioned by Gizmodo hint: Arr!
What makes this particular box a bit different than the rest, like an offering from Roku for example, is that a Roku box doesn’t stream videos from a hard drive or home network, and Seagate’s does. That’s an important distinction, because it means for about $US90 or so you can play all the pirated video you can eat, then switch over to Netflix streaming when you get tired of seeing your bootlegged, uncut copy of Iron Man 2 for the umpteenth time.
The update is available for free as part of an automated firmware update at Seagate.com, and will be pre-installed on all future Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ HD units sold in stores.

Friday, September 24, 2010 at 2:21 PM24 hours later i stil haven’t been able to get the thing o work properly.
It keeps on resetting itself for no apparent reason. I’ve tried about 5 ‘fixes’ so far, but none have worked yet.
Am currently waiting on their support section to get back to me and if that doesn’t work, i guess i’ll be returning the thing.
bugger.
