Congratulations are in order for the Boy Scouts, who have figured out a cool way to combine the old with the new using a “geocaching badge” for Scouts.
Scouting Magazine lays out the requirements, which combine safety, fun and learning about GPS:
* Precautions necessary to have a safe time while searching for geocaches
* Geocaching etiquette and how the principles of Leave No Trace apply
* Geocaching terms
* How GPS technology works
* Steps for finding and logging a cache
The badge also requires Scouts become comfortable with geocaching.com, the official site for all things geocaching. Happy hunting, guys. [Scouting Magazine via Bits]

Monday, April 19, 2010 at 1:07 PMLol, all 80% of the discussion in here seems to be about religion and human rights? never had this in the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) its just like scouts (we have them too, but only for kids who were too soft for any of the ADF themed cadet organizations) best part was there was no religious ideology s to worry about (atheism or otherwise) anyone was welcome, i remember a few Muslim kids in other squadrons who has awesome navy blue turbins and discussion of sexual orientation or gender equality was *almost* enough to get you booted out. funnily enough we had a big picture of the queen on the wall – talk about irrelevance…..
