Opera reports that their downloads have more than doubled across the European continent during the introduction of their latest version. Some countries saw their rates tripling. One, Poland, experienced a 328 per cent surge. Of the total number of downloads, 77 per cent came from the Choice Screen in Poland. On average, 53 per cent came from the Choice Screen in the whole of Europe. Not bad at all, considering that the roll-out has just started in early March and will continue to happen “well into May for existing Windows computers and for five more years on new installations”.
It seems the Eurocrats were right. Hopefully, the UScrats will take good note. [Opera]

Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2:05 AMThis is all very well for those who wish to try other web browsers but they will soon become fed up with seeing the choice screen appearing every time their computer is switched on. Personally, I use IE8 and don’t intend to change and I am already sick to death of this stupid pop-up, which I understand cannot be removed.
Perhaps I should get a MAC. Is this what the burocrats in Brussels want, I ask myself? My pc has been tampered with as a result of action by someone in another country that I didn’t vote for.
Democracy!
I shall not rest until I have found a way of disabling or removing this stupid, irritating, un-welcome, un-necessary toy.
