The iPad’s Surprise New Button: Screen Orientation Lock

2:15AM March 13, 2010 | Matt Buchanan

It’s not a front-facing camera, but Apple has added something to the iPad since announcing it: A new button on the side that locks the screen orientation.

That’s right, you can lie on your side and hold the iPad in any awkward position you want – there is no correct way of holding it, after all, according to Jon Ive – and the screen won’t seizure back and forth between portrait and landscape orientation. I really hope they add this to the next iPhone too. [Apple via Loop Insight]
