A seven star energy rating – that’s a bloody good effort for a 52-inch television. Sharp’s latest LED-backlit LCD – the LC52LE700X – nails the energy consumption rating, becoming the first (and only, so far) TV to attain seven stars.
Aside from the energy consumption figure, it seems to be a pretty stock standard display in terms of specs:
The LC52LE700X features an ultra high contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, 1080/24P signal input, Fine Motion Advanced Technology, SRS TruSurroundHD™, Bass Enhancer as well as HDMI and AQUOS Link.
The model boasts a selection of connection options including HDMI x 3, AV-In x 3, Component x 2, S-Video In, PC In as well as AV, Optical Audio and headphone out terminals.
It’s also fairly reasonably priced at $3,899.

Monday, March 8, 2010 at 2:46 PMThat’s particularly impressive to me as I always thought the ratings were out of 5 so to get 7 out of 5 is awesome. Seeing that more than likely my original understanding was wrong I looked into it a little further and it turns out that’s it’s not so simple. The energy rating system is a 6 star rating but then offer up to 4 bonus stars for “super efficiency”.
See this link for an example http://www.energyrating.gov.au/tv4.html
As they say, you learn something new every day. I guess I can go home now.
