PlayStation Move, Hypocrisy And Tootsie Pops

Back in 2007, Sony’s CEO Jack Tretton was fairly dismissive of what he thought to be a childish new product: the Nintendo Wii. Thankfully, this wise, old owl is here to make Tretton eat – er, lick – his words. [Penny Arcade]

One might suggest that he’s to old for gaming…

Rather then trying to “gimmick” the product, they could instead look at helping produce games that are actually worth playing ?!?

sony have never really understood the gaming undustry. they have survived on image and their electronics reputation alone. they know people will buy their devices for those four letters on front.

the PS1 only won because nintendo stayed with the cartridge making it too expensive for developers and optical looked like the future. it was a timing thing. PS2 because of DVD, another AV technology but the system itself was rubbish and hard to make games for. and the PS3 is identical in philosophy to the PS2, survives on blu-ray but yet again sony did not work with the software companies in the production of the device. the console was nmarketed as a networkable blu-ray player for the first year. their hardware and software companies do not communicate enough. they tell a bunch of lies when the console specs are announced and sell the console on dreams just like a politician.

the PSP was just arrogance and ignorance.

none of this matters in the end, they will always sell.

other companies make mistakes, i understand that, but they still seem to have a better grasp on the industry as a whole. MS are greedy and nintendo arrogant but they seem to know what is going on. nintendo have certainly made their mistakes but they are still the only company who can sell a console for a profit from day one.
