Melbourne readers who want to publicly protest the government’s planned internet filter should know that there’s a march planned for Saturday, March 6 at the State Library of Victoria between 12pm and 3pm.
The march has planned speakers from the Greens, Electronic Frontiers Australia, Australian Sex Party, Pirate Party Australia and Exit International, all of whom will argue the Government’s proposed internet filter.
You can get more info from the Facebook event page, but if you’ve been waiting for a public showing, this one looks like it might be fairly well organised.

A virtual march was planned, but mysteriously, nobody could access the page to participate on. A spokesman from the classification board has claimed that it was added to the filter because russian hackers broke in and put up child pornography. The spokesman also said “the filter has nothing at all to do with filtering political content, this was a clear case of Russian hackers”.

Ok, I love Melbourne just as much as the next person, but there’s events in every state on the 6th.
Here’s one list: http://openinternet.com.au/2010/03/03/saturday-march-6-national-day-of-action/
The Melbourne and Perth ones are (probably) the best organised. The link is to an EFA website, but none of these events are organised by them. It’s being presented as a “national day of action” and it would probably be good to point out the other events that are happening too, even if they’re not as big.
