Wireless charging has been promised for an age, yet here we are in 2010 with little more than a Nintendo DS Lite wireless charging peripheral to keep our lusts satisfied. Well, now Uniden are coming to our rescue, with a wireless charging plate that will charge pretty much any gadget you can throw at it.
The Uniden Wireless Power Pad may not be the most attractive gadget to have sitting on your desk, but it will certainly be one of the most functional. The Pad comes in a few different starter pack configurations: The Deluxe Pack, which includes the pad, an iPhone sleeve and a power disc with 8 interchangeable tips for $200; A kit that includes just the pad and the iPhone sleeve for $150 and a kit that includes the pad and the powerdisc with 8-interchangeable tips for $150.
You can also pick up sleeves for $60 each, including the iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Pearl 8100, BlackBerry Curve 8300, and the BlackBerry Curve 8900. You can also grab extra 8 x 6 inch pads for $100.
The pad can supposedly charge up to five different gadgets simultaneously, while the power disc lets you charge pretty much any gadget under the sun. It’ll be hitting shelves on March 1 if you’re interested.

And Wildcharge http://www.shoppureenergy.com which looks suspiciously like the Uniden unit above…….rebranding maybe?

Friday, February 12, 2010 at 4:57 PMBring on the day that there is a wireless charging standard, and wireless charging is built into the device itself rather than requiring some extra add on.

Without direct product support, this kinda thing is somewhat pointless in my opinion.

Monday, October 4, 2010 at 2:03 PMI have this device and it is wonderful. The thing that is well and truely frustrating the buggery out of me is that you cannot purchase a “power disc” cord for an iphone or ipod. You have to use the sleeve and it is heavy and bulky not to mention inconvenient as it is a tight tight fit and everytime you have to sync your iphone you have to struggle getting the cover off and on again. The cover also makes the phone bulkier and does not fit into my going out bag.
