Russia’s been testing its new T-50 “Sukhhoi” stealth fighter jets and so far they’re a success. This video shows the first test flight and is supposedly also the very first time the public is getting to see the bird.
With the T-50′s “basic specs” including “greater agility, sustained supersonic-flight capability in non-afterburning mode, low radar visibility, low heat signature, as well as enhanced take-off and landing performance”, I wonder what the upgrade options are. Either way, this successful test flight makes Russia the only country aside from the United States to have fifth-generation fighters. [Ria Novosti]

It looks very ordinary…..and it seems that a lot of parts from older Sukhoi jet-fighters have been used in this prototype.

Yeah, it looks like the 3-way bastard child of an F-22 (the air intakes and associated “canard-like” extensions to the wings), YF-23 (wide angle tail) and a MiG29 (Nose and wide mounted engines).

the full spec model comes with 3G.
“enhanced take-off and landing performance”
lol, “it now takes off and lands successfully an amazing 80% of the time!”

It’s a revamped Foxbat of the mid-80′s.

Silly comments. This is obviously a new airframe and not a revamped old design. Of course some parts will look similar to parts of other planes. The laws of physics have not changed since the 80′s.
Also, the engines used in the prototype are not the final ones. All in all, it’s a very impressive airframe and it will become a very deadly aircraft.
