Apple Now Allowing VOIP Over 3G

An update to the iPhone developer SDK brought a significant change: VoIP calls can now be made over mobile networks. Currently there’s one iPhone application, iCall with that feature already built-in, but it won’t be long before there are more. [PR Newswire]

When VOIP is everywhere, and telcos give up on voice and just charge for data there will be no such thing as an anonymous phone call.

I am betting probably facebook will offer a completely ‘free’ phone service for companies and individuals. you will have to log on to call, just like you have to log on to message.(which you’ll voluntarily do because it will cost nothing and it will be more convenient – where can you find anyone or anything? FB)

eventually that will be the preferred method of communication.
