If you thought Telstra’s 21Mbps HSPA speeds were awesome, you’ll be stoked to know that according to Gizmag, Ericsson has just doubled it, demoing 41.5Mbps recently in Stockholm, Sweden.
The best part of the entire demo though? It only requires a software update to implement, effectively doubling the speed of the world’s fastest network painlessly, should Telstra decide to jump on board.
Of course, you won’t actually get speeds of 42Mbps on your device – like Telstra’s 21Mbps speeds, that figure is purely theoretical. Still, it’s going to be better than your stock standard ADSL1 service, and that’s impressive.

I don’t even need 7mbps for the light net browsing that I do on mobile devices, what I really want is coverage and low cost.
I mean I went up the sunshine coast a few weeks ago with a 3 3g modem, and NO connection none at all, not even some fall back onto a slower speed network, and trust me, it was hardly a remote part of the sunshine coast, a telstra one worked but cost $50 for 700 meg…
I mean what is the point of this really? like what? I will take my laptop to the ONE square meter of coverage that actually runs at this speed, then use my whole $50 data limit in 10 mins?
