Pop quiz: How much would you pay for an iPhone windshield mount? If you answered $160, then you might want to look at the TomTom windshield mount, which is now available to purchase.
Sure, it’s not just a suction cup with an iPhone jack in it – this thing has its own GPS receiver, a built-in loudspeaker and microphone, and an auxilliary out for playing music through your car stereo.
But the truth is that you can pick up an (admittedly entry-level) dedicated satnav for that price. Plus, the cradle doesn’t actually come with the TomTom software, or even a code to download it. Which kind of makes this a rather expensive option.

Dont forget people who are buying this will have already forked out up to $99 for the app. So thats $260 to use the windscreen dock.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:41 AMIf that $160 included the app, I’d probably get this… but as it stands at around $260 for the combo, I’ll pass.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 8:42 PMThe app is $100 if you buy it for one phone. Register a new itunes account, buy itunes vouchers at discount ($80 for $100 worth of vouchers) and then share the app between 5 people, works out to about $16 each.

Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 3:04 PMStill no availability. Very frustrating an announcement like this is made but there are none in the country. Tom tom says try retailers. Johhny Appleseed dont have but said watch their web page. Clever of Tom Tom to announce to stop us buying opposition
