How To Try The New Google Search

Confirmed. The rumors about Google’s redesign are true, and you can try it for yourself with a very simple method.

1. Go to Google.com.
2. Once it loads, enter this code into your web browser’s URL address field:

javascript:void(document.cookie=”PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com”);

There shouldn’t be any http://google.com in front of that. Just that code.

3. Hit enter.
4. Reload the Google.com page and you will have access to the new user interface.

It’s fast and sweet. [Thanks Matt Karolian]

    This only works in google.com, it doesn’t seem to be implemented in google.com.au, So you’ll need to switch to the US version first.

    Also if you copy and paste the code, you need to replace the fancy quote marks with plain ones for the javascript to work.

    Real Easy

    Wow, way to test this properly before 6 out of 7 commenters declared it useless.

    It works. Like betaMale says, you need to replace the quotes.

    But man is it ugly.

    Yep, it works if you follow the instructions to replace the quotes.]

    Why would they disable it, they can let the hardcore look at it and get feedback. They are probably reading stories like this to see what people think of the re-design.

    I rewrote the Guide for Australians (or any language probably)

    1. Go to Google.com.au

    2. Click “go to google.com” (in the bottom right)

    3. Once it loads, enter this code into your web browser’s URL address field:
    javascript:void(document.cookie=”PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com”);
    There shouldn’t be any http://google.com in front of that. Just that code.
    (You may have to replace the quotes in the java command with your own)

    4. Hit enter

    5. Press refresh (you may have to do steps 1-2 again)

    Guys you need to replace the ” with ‘

    javascript:void(document.cookie=’PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com’);

    There’s the one that I fixed, it works. I had to click on “Go to google.com” from the australian page for it to work though.
