Gamers 4 Croydon To Take On Atkinson At Next Election

David over at Kotaku has a nice little story about Gamers 4 Croydon, a hopeful political party hoping to dethrone South Australian Attorney-General at the next election.

At the moment though, they’re still not in the running – they need to register as a political party first, and to do that they need 150 members who are over 18, enrolled to vote and live in South Australia to sign up. Fortunately, the guy behind the party, David Doe, is going to be down at Rundle Mall between 5:30 and 6:30 pm today gathering signatures. If you’re in SA, and want to actively try and combat Australia’s backwards classification strategy, you should probably get down there.

You should also check Kotaku later this morning for an exclusive interview with David Doe.

UPDATE: Interview’s now live here.

So lets just get this strait: In order for me – a guy who lives in QLD – to have any impact on the R18+ situation in QLD, I have to move to SA – thats right, MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE – then vote to remove a guy from his position, who as far as I can tell, has done many good things for his electorate in just about all areas EXCEPT gaming.

Are you listing Australian gov?? that is F@$#ED!

    fix the God DAMN System!!

how do we go about doing that?

Such a sad state of affairs when progress is held back by one person.

I thought the whole idea of democracy was the will of the people, not the whims of one man.

Perhaps Mr Atkinson does not comprehend what it means if he does not submit: It means people will turn to alternative sources, namely the Internet. Questions of legality will be cast aside in order to have the game as intended. If anything the people will want it more than if it was readily available. It shows a lack of faith in the people and their judgement to restrict something for their own good and not offer them a say in the matter.

And the internet, despite Mr Conroy’s best efforts to police it, will continue to be the best place.

You’re being unfair, Mr Atkinson. Accept the change: You can at least have a moderating effect on the proposals put forward. It might even be looked upon as a voice of reason. Not having any discussion about it will look like it comes from a power-hungry tyrant. And nobody wants to be remembered for that.

  • There are many associations, clubs and political candidates who would like to see the back of the attorney general in SA, there will be a protest rally on the 20th November at 4.00pm at Parliament House, to demand his resignation, one of the largest in SA’s History, come and join in, or contact me by email for info and flyers aldridgemark@bigpond.com

    @ Mark Aldridge

I will most certainly be there. I hope that information on this rally will be widly advertised. I’m sure many people will join us.

remember, we don’t have to win, he just has to loose, it may be a bad idea forming other parties to dilute the vote against him
