The original T91 from Asus wasn’t quite the touchscreen netbook we’d been hoping for thanks to the average tablet XP software and lack of multitouch. But Asus is never a company to sit on their hands, so they’ve updated the T91 to the T91MT, which adds Windows 7 and multitouch.
The T91MT has an 8.9-inch 1024×600 screen with a 256-level pressure sensor, runs on an Atom Z520 processor with 1GB RAM, a 32GB SSD and all the standard wireless and connectivity. It weighs 960 grams with the battery, which is pretty sweet, and comes preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium.
Multitouch does come at a bit of a premium though, with the T91MT set to set you back $999.

The vanilla version retailed for ~$600AUD locally. Internationally the MT version seems to add a smallish premium, so an expected price would be around $700AUD.
$1000AUD is just the usual story of importers trying to gouge us. We almost have dollar parity with the US, and a free trade agreement…

U.S. RRP is $549, which is around $600AUD. Asus should be shamed for trying to gouge Australian consumers. I would buy one at the U.S. price, but at a thousand bucks I’ll hold onto my money. I’d suyggest all Australians refuse to buy marked up products like this one -companies like this will keep trying it on until me make it clear that we won’t put up with it.
