I know Gerry Harvey was planning on hosting a big Windows 7 launch party tonight, proclaiming that they’ll be selling some of the first copies of Windows 7 in the world, but we’ve just received word that some stores are already selling notebooks with Windows 7 preloaded.
If you live anywhere near Mullumbimby, the Bridgelands Retravision store has Windows 7 computers on the shelves already. And I’m sure they aren’t the only ones — if you’re keen on picking up a Win7 laptop early, you should hit stores now…You’re welcome.

Working at a store that is selling windows 7, and knowing what Microsoft is like about embargo’s, looks like someone is gunna get the crap kicked out of them.

Having them on display and actually selling are two different things.
Report PermalinkThe store I work at had Win 7 machines on display.
But, we took PRE-ORDERS for the 22nd Oct.
So Retravision may have done the same!

Does anyone else find the amount of marketing done for this launch totally lacking? Nothing on the aussie microsoft site and the store does not even list the price.
Report PermalinkAmerica got the pre-order, they get a family pack…. but Australia just gets left in the dark.

I’m the IT manager at the store in the article and would like to point out that the computers were only put out on display. We had no intention of selling them until tomorrow.
