Well, Even as AT&T removes restrictions on VOIP thru 3G apps on the Appstore, the network isn't entirely net neutral.

They still have restriction on internet tethering on the iPhone, even though the device clearly supports tethering.Currently, tethering using iPhone is disabled on AT&T network, But I believe AT&T (and many other networks) have plans to charge consumers extra for tethering, for accessing data that the consumers have already paid for !!

Refer to the Apple user discussion thread below for the outrage caused among iPhone users around the world:

Sooner the FCC hears about tethering, the better it is for all of us. I hope tethering restriction falls on the wayside, just like the VOIP restriction.

Looks like the US market may have to fall in line with the rest of the developed world, where people pay for what they use.

"Pay-per-byte data"

of course this is the way it should be! it is considered a utility, so it should be treated like one!

I'd rather pay for it and be able to do anything, than have it be free but only be able to access optus's home page...only between 12am and 8am... only 12 times a month....
