Wanna Try Out Win7′s Multitouch? Dell’s SX2210T Is On Sale Now

Gizmodo AU

Hat-tip to Cpt. Jackson, who points us to Dell’s website and the availability of the SX2210T 21.5-inch, 1920×1080 multitouch LCD monitor from Dell. It’s $499 which sounds surprisingly affordable to me. Check it out on Dell’s site.

[Dell – Thanks Cpt. Jackson]

Is it just me, or does this monitor look like it’s actually thicker than an iMac? From the picture, I would’ve sworn that it was an all-in-one machine. What’s with the hefty profile?

Congratulations Dell, you haven’t done what nearly every other company does and raised the price in Australia for no reason at all. In fact, the AU site actually has it slightly cheaper than the US site (AU$499 on the aussie site, US$469 on the US site – which works out to AU$508.55). I’m really considering getting one of these.

It would be great if someone could test this monitor on a Mac for the webcam and microphone compatibility. I called Dell support, but they claim that there is a compatibility issue with Mac so I’m holding back from ordering one.

Oh BTW, I wouldn’t count on Dell technical support, I think they have limited if not very little idea of their own products.

A few months ago I ordered a 27 inch monitor but later called for technical support before the monitor arrived. I was wondering if the monitor could do 1920×1080 HDMI input maintaining aspect ratio, and they claimed that it didn’t and that it stretched the image to the whole 1920×1200. When I got the monitor, I explored a bit and there was an option to maintain the 16:9 aspect ratio.
