On the other hand, Maybe Ballmer noticed and didn’t care. In the spot he discusses hardware diversity and this sort of proves his point. After all, you can run Windows 7 on a Mac. It’s an amusing gaffe, but beyond that, the clip is interesting because it touches on Windows 7, the image battle between Apple and Microsoft and the issue of CEO pay all inside five minutes. To run windows on a mac, you need to buy windows.
So how would ballmer be upset by that?? We had to listen to Macheads telling us that noone would ever use windows on macs. And where are we now?
Ballmer would be over the moon about it. They have their OS running on apples machines! And people are CHOOSING to install it.
I’m betting with all honesty jobs is still surprised about how many people run windows on macs. and not good surprised.

yeah, I’d say Jobs would be pissed off more than Ballmer.
all that is really showing is that apple is just another OEM that can be dominated by windows, after all, MS sell windows, they don’t sell PCs.
honestly, I think its good for everyone. Apple get more sales as people have the safety net of windows compatibility, and they get to prove the merits of their hardware on a more even playing field. And Microsoft gets more sales of windows, and the acknowledgement that even mac people sometimes need/want windows.
consumers can mix and match, choose to use what ever is best for them more freely.
sure it would be a perfect little world if we could use OSX on any PC, but as the vista launch showed us, compatibility is a world of hurt. and as a coder I know that lots of sacrifices have to be made in the pursuit of flexibility and compatibility, the tight bond that you get between hardware and software with Apple simply cannot be rivalled in some areas, and I think its a good thing to have.
just wish you could code for the damn iphone without having to get a mac ;)

Balmer in the NBC video: “The computer can be the centre of your media life.”
I remember about five years ago (one and a half eons in computer time), Steve Jobs talked about the Mac and OS X being one’s “digital hub.” Imitation would seem to be the sincerest form of flattery, even if it’s late. How old is Windows 7, really?
