Slingplayer Mobile iPhone App Has Finally Launched In Australia
Okay, it happened a couple of weeks ago, but I was away and didn’t get to share it with you. The Slingplayer Mobile iPhone app, which streams content from your Slingbox to your iPhone over Wi-Fi, is now available from the Aussie iTunes store…
The app costs $36.99, so it’s not exactly the cheapest thing on iTunes at the moment, but reports from tipster Alex is that it works an absolute treat.
[iTunes – Thanks Tristan, Vic and Alex]

Cheaper app options for watching stored videos are “Air Video” which will convert videos from any format on the fly and stream them over Wifi AND over 3G! This is $3.99AUD
For recorded TV, the EyeTV app is great when paired with an EyeTV USB recorder. $7.99 AUD
I’m still waiting to see a slingbox in Australia! No matter, getting myself a play tv once they hit aussie stores…
Just an update – Running on the home LAN it works great. Haven’t had as much luck over the net (on my work and friends networks). I have the right settings. Tried over IP and Sling ID. Reset ports to the defaults. Nada. No problems connecting via the browser viewer using either of those methods so it’s something to do with the iphone app. That’s not a huge problem for me as I really just need it for home but it could upset some. I’m sure there’ll be an update as i’m not the only one having problems.
