When early this year I first saw Sony’s 11in OLED I knew my plan to hold off buying a new TV to let the “next big thing” land had merit. Until now. Looks like large-scale production of the utterly gorgeous large OLED TV ain’t gonna ramp up any time soon. Or, at least, that’s the state of play according to CNET.

I think TV progress has exploded now anyway, same as PCs, you can’t really have the “i’ll wait for the next ‘big’ thing to come out” mentality anymore, cause in 6 months, the next next big thing will be out anyway, all you would have done is spent time you could have spent watching your TV / playing your PC, waiting for the ‘next big thing’.
It was great with CRTs, decades without any noticeable changes. then we had plasma, LCD, SD, 720p, 1080p, burn-in fixes, frame interpolation, LED backlights. Then, before any of that tech even becomes ‘mature’ and improvements ramp down, we get OLED and Laser, and 2160p ,3D…
