Microsoft’s New Aussie Windows 7 Ads Are Actually Good

Gizmodo AU

At the Windows 7 launch this morning, Microsoft showed off their new Windows 7 ads. And they’re actually pretty good.

The above is my personal favourite (I reckon they should have called it Windows Kevin as well), but some of the others are equally good. You can check them all out below.

Haha I love how it strategically cuts off the end of their sentences. Short and sweet.

I see Microsoft are now using the Vista bait and switch ploy for their advertising as well.

Release something craptastic and lower people’s expectations then follow it up with something half decent and voila, smell the roses.

Only difference is Vista meant Microsoft got billions of dollars in upgrades and OEM licenses no one wanted but were forced to buy.

I can’t really complain they keep me in a job.

They are somewhat better, but lets face it the bar was set pretty low as far as Windows ads are concerned.. At least Lauren the Laptop Hunter and Jerry Seinfeld weren’t involved.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am to know that this great OS is not going to be ruined by bad TV adverts. Short and Sweet – The best way to go.

7 Seconds to get a minimal amount of information… Very full on ads. Apple still has my money.

So, the security one, exactly how does Windows 7 now protect your personal information? I see the “firewall”, but ummm, personal information goes OUT, and Explorer is the most security bug prone browser of the lot, so …

Whoever created these Ads should be shipped straight to Redmond to take over the Marketing Dept. Well done!

Hey, just a note for anyone looking to upgrade (and happens to be a uni student/employee) the best price on Win 7 upgrade is definitely itsnotcheating.com.au — win pro upgrade for $40.

You just need an email address from a uni and a CC. No reason to pay the full $100+

I have just smiled because I actually liked a microsoft ad for the first time in years. The seven second demos are a brilliant concept and soo cleverly executed.

I’d be mighty pleased to be the advertising company behind them = does anyone know who it was?

“I’m a PC, and I just stole everything that Apple has been doing for the last decade.”

So, by “new” features… one could actually correctly refer to them as “bug fixes” or “things we should have had years ago”.

Good work Microsoft: you’ve demonstrated yourselves to be at the cutting edge of 20th century technology!

Seriously, save for the ad with the fort, they are pretty crap… but if you think they are all cool – to each their own.

wow.. it looks very similar to mac switch campaign ads,. although Microsoft focuses on their positive sides as mac focused on PC’s weak points..
