Google Is 6% Of All Internet Traffic

12:04AM October 15, 2009 | Matt Buchanan

Anybody shocked that Google, the single largest source of internet traffic worldwide, account for 6% of it? It’s also kind of remarkable in the context that basically 30 large companies, like Microsoft and Facebook, account for 30% of the total. [NYT/ReadWriteWeb]

Traffic/Bandwidth is not necessarily reflective of it’s use. ie. There would be a lot of google requests to equal the traffic of one youtube video not to mention a microsft service pack.

A stat that measured HTTP page requests globally I think would put google way at the top.
