As if my iPhone didn’t have enough of my DNA in the form of grease fingerprints, dead skin cells and other precious bodily fluids, now I can add some more of it in wallpaper form.
AU: Helys doesn’t extend this (silly) service to Australia. Not yet anyway…-EH
French DNA laboratory Helys can do it for you. It works like this: Pay $US147 and they will send you a DNA sampling kit. Send them back your DNA, choose a preferred tonal range, and they will make your genetic print into pixel form. Two weeks later, you will receive a 320×480 pixel picture in your email.
Of course, what Helys is not telling you is that this is all part of a secret plan by the French government to have a record of all our DNA. And with it, they will create a mutant cheese that will kill everyone in the planet who is not French or drinks Vichy water. I warned you. Don’t come back later whining about it when your arteries explode because of the killer mutant cheese. [Helys via CNET]

Wow, what a shame this can ONLY be done on the iPhone(tm). I’d love to use this service and its 320×480 pixel image on another device, but as well all know, these things can only be done on the Apple iPhone(tm).
We all live in hope, iGizmodo, that one day image files can be used on other phones. When other phones exist.

If I were going to do this I would want a vector file that I could blow up and cover the walls and ceiling of my whole apartment.
Oh and Bennish, you have just been iBanned for your iSnide.

Yes, I’m sorry. I should have realised this was an Apple blog.
There used to be a lovely blog called Gizmodo once. Maybe I’ll try and find it again…

‘Customize your Palm Pre with your own DNA’… wouldn’t really work as well would it.

I checked out the Aussie DNA Art websites Dave mentioned above – they also do downloadable DNA imaging as well as the usual hard copies on canvas/acrylic.
Report PermalinkI’ve also seen DNA imaging on ad campaigns recently for Coopers and Lancome. Looks like DNA is the design trend du jour….
