Windows Media Center Opens Up DRM Restrictions On Shows
If you record a lot of shows using a CableCard in Windows Media Center, know that the upcoming 1.19 update will loosen the reins on these recordings and allow you to copy them to other WMC machines and portable devices. In other words, you record into WMC, you can copy the content wherever you want—save for Pay-Per-View and premium content. So it’s not the Holy Grail, but it may be as close as we’re going to get.

Will this apply to the zune HD? That would be pretty slick. There have been posts prior to this saying you WON'T be able to copy recorded tv content from media center, so how does that work?
perfect. Now to wait for that Ceton card to come out and i'm in there.

Big win for us Media Center users. I'll ditch my crappy Comcast DVR that I'm currently only using for stuff like FX and sports and get a cablecard tuner to supplement my HDHomeRun (ATSC OTA) and ATI 650 (Clear QAM).
And the bonus for MS is that I'll probably buy another Xbox for a bedroom extender.
@[DFX] Deimos: Yes, you can do it now using the analog hole. The Hauppage HD-PVR is one tool.
If it can be watched, it can be copied.
Pay-Per-View, HBO, whatever.
@nightryder21: that thing looks sick!
