Virgin Mobile unveiled its swanky new concept store on Pitt Street in Sydney today ahead of tonight’s launch event at the rebranded Virgin Metro Theatre, and it represents some exciting changes for the telco.
I went along for a sneak peek and was most impressed with the store itself. It’s a small—but well utilised—space, with a dozen or so interactive touchscreens which enable you to browse and compare handset features. It’s not a new concept by any means, but it’s certainly the most user-friendly and has a well thought-out design. The best part — live handsets. You can experience each phone’s features and UI quirks first hand and know exactly what you’re in for. The combination of these two together makes Virgin Mobile’s offerings just that little bit sweeter. Nobody, until now, has been able to pull this off right.
The new campaign will also highlight their new website and “Member’s Lounge” which offers unique benefits for customers that you would actually want to use, like 10% off Virgin Blue flights, free beers on Friday, free voicemail, unlimited free mobile talk and text, and VIP access to exclusive gigs.
Look out for the new TVC this coming Sunday, October 4.

If only the virgin mobile broadband service was any good … but it isn’t. More drop-outs than any western Sydney high schools I could care to name.
Hell the website sucks more balls than several pornstars with a plane full of cash and a football team to play with.
Would love for some improvements behind the scenes to mirror those being made for their store-front image. Until then, I’m not impressed.

I’ve been with Vodafone, 3, and now Virgin. Virgin doesn’t drop out on me ever but I live near Sydney CBD. 3 was the worst. I had to return their skype phone because I couldn’t connect to 3G in my apartment, it just bounced me to the slower network that doesn’t support Skype.
I think Virgin’s customer support is great. Always talking to an Ozzy, and never having to wait.

Virgin Internet on my Nokia E71 has been very flakey the last week, and despite two calls to support it’s not quite resolved. Looking on whirlpool it seems I’m not the only one with this problem…
Maybe they should invest a bit more in good infrastructure?

Hi all,
I’m an employee of Virgin Mobile Australia and associate myself keenly with our new Pitt St store.
Hope you all get the chance to check out our new store, I’m sure you’ll be as impressed as I was when I first walked in.
The flagship store is a big step forward for Virgin Mobile, moving into a new playing field. To compliment this leap, we are dedicated to building our network strength for optimum service to our Members.
As a company, we are committed to providing the best possible service; right around the corner is a major fix which will, in turn, compliment the innovating Pitt St store.
Thanks for the interest, drop in sometime and say hi to your fellow Virgin Mobile Members!
