I don't get why Apple would put a camera on an iPod nano. It doesn't make any sense. And because the screen covers up over half of the top of the device and since it's so thin, the camera couldn't go anywhere but where it is in the pic above unless they moved the screen down which would make it ugly.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Technical glitches didn't stop Apple from releasing the iPod classic (that wonderful aluminum hunk of junk). Why should this be any different?

There's nothing like analysts spreading a little extra BS before the keynote to lower the stock price of Apple to make it a better buy for themselves when the keynote finally does come out.

@inspiredEpic: That seems to be the way it's set up, assuming that mockup is halfway accurate. I find it more comfortable anyway. I usually turn my iPhone on the side when taking pictures, it seems a lot less awkward to use that way.

@Chris: Yeah, it would have to be a half-way decent camera (i.e. better than your cellphone) for it to be at all useful. I have an iPhone 3G, so that's not hard to do. :P

@OMG! Ponies!: other than my 80gig becoming slower and slower it tends to work just fine. as slow as it goes it's still faster than iTunes on my PC.

Apple should put a camera on the new Shuffle and still not add any buttons! You have to push the buttons on the headphone cord in a specific sequence to access the camera function (like select, select, select, volume up, volume down), then hope you are aiming the lens at what you want to capture (since there will be no view finder), and then click the select button on the headphone cord again three more times to capture the photo. They could sell it for just under a hundred dollars and make zillions!!!

argh, i was waiting for the latest gen before i upgrade my old nano, now its being held back by a feature thats neither needed or even wanted by most people, ilets face it, how often do you use the camera on your phone, now think how often you are out without your phone (which almost certainly has a camera already) and still need your ipod to take a picture

@logicalnoise: The launchday classics were laggy as hell and, on top of that, both mine and my girlfriend's had the power connector go bad after 9 months of ordinary use. It's one of the worst Apple experiences I've ever had.

@OMG! Ponies!: I had stopped by the Apple store to check out a classic as an upgrade for my 5.5 80GB Video, and every single floor model had some serious lag issues. It took multiple firmware updates to get it working properly. Needless to say I held onto my Video until the 2nd generation touch. The classic seems to run OK now, but it's still not as smooth as the video was, which I assume is on account of Apple's power saving techniques to get more life out of its battery.

@spudhed: I take pictures with my phone, and that camera sucks horribly. I would much rather take it with an iPod Touch.

Windows Mobile is by far the most consumer hated OS on mobile phones, yet it has a larger market share than the iPhone / Mac OS and Android. End of the day, is it better than both the iPhone OS and Android OS? NOPE! Same rule apply for iPods and computers and so on and so on and so on.

For someone who trolls anything having to do with Apple posts, you sure seem to have an issue taking the heat in return.

If you noticed, I use both Win 7 and Snow Leopard and I also want a Zune HD. But does that mean its a better product? Not at all.

And in my opinion, I do believe market share means something, Apple used it to swallow up even more market share. Obviously MS is not going to be able to just take it away, but it will bite at it, I hope.
