Why exactly do you need a special TV for 3D content? It's not as simple as just overlaying the two images (one for each eye)?

At any rate, I doubt we'll see any significant adoption rate until they figure out a good way to get rid of the goggles.

I highly doubt Sony could accomplish what they claim. 3D technology like this is still currently unreachable.

To think I just changed my TV...

shutter glasses are better than polarized tech, but only if the shutter glasses are very very fast at least 60 frames per second, polarized always needs more bright screen and more expensive tech for the screens, right now the only way to generate 3d content is by 3d software, no 3d digital videocamera exists right now,

If any of these tv could use disney digital 3D type polarization, I would buy them right now. That stuff gave me great 3D and no eye fatigue. (It also helped that Up! wasn't heavy on the cheesy out of screen effects)

If they are just using active shutter it better not be any different than the 3D ready DLPs that are already on the market. I have one with NVIDIA 3D Vision setup on it and it runs beautifully. Since it's 120hz (60hz per eye) there is no flickering.

Now if Sony goes dickish like usual and tries to push their own new standard I'm going to be pissed. Make it work with the hardware that's already on the market Sony. Consumers don't want another proprietary format.

If they're using active shutter glasses, does that mean an updated PS3 will do 3D on my DLP? I can game on PC in 3d on it now, I'd like to play PS3 games in 3d too
