QOTD: Did You Pick Up The Beatles Box Sets Today?

It’s the 9th of September, 2009. 09/09/09. Beatles Day. Not only does The Beatles: Rock Band hit shelves today, but so do the remastered back-catalogue of Beatles albums in both Stereo and Mono.

Each of the box sets aren’t cheap – you’re looking at $300-$350 for the stereo set or $400 for the mono collection. The Beatles: Rock Band will set you back $90 or so for just the game, making it a very expensive day for the rabid Beatles fan.

So my question to you: Did you pony up the cash for some Beatlemania today? If so, what did you get? And is it worth it?

  • I love music in general but the Beatles was before my time. Actually, I’d find it very difficult to fork over that sort of money even for my favourite artists!

I’ve just ordered my copy of the mono box set…probably will be another few weeks before it actually get’s delivered though.

I’m considering getting Beatles: Rock Band during my lunch break.
    So far undecided though.

I bit the bullet and bought it. Lets see how long it takes me to get sick of it.

Well sure I picked all of the above but I don’t have the cash to actually pay for the mono and stereo box sets…
They will make money off me buying the whole The Beatles: Rock Band set and all the DLC that comes out for it.

      Ahh it’s awesome!

I’m waiting for them to get on iTunes. I hate CDs.

while I hate lossy music :P

  • Got it. Both box set and rock band. I’m a little disappointed they didn’t do a proper remix of the stereo though. Have a listen to the Yellow Submarine Songtrack they released a few years back – instead of having vocals on the right speaker and the instruments on the left, the vocals/music were all centred and it sounded fantastic. Either way some of the songs sound fantastic. Here There and Everywhere sounds magnificent – You can really hear the harmonies.

Steve – Yoko just announced something in the works, keep holding on. I think it will be here soon.

Got my stereo set from DJ’s at lunch today, had to get them to hold it for me. It seems there in short supply – stores haven’t been sent much in stock.

Those waiting for iTunes probably won’t be waiting too long… the impending iPod event seems like the perfect place to declare the availability of The Beatles’ catalogue.

I’ve seen Rock Band for as cheap as $69 (Wii)/$79 (360/PS3), for those on the prowl for that.

I bought the last box set http://i31.tinypic.com/1snpeb.jpg
to replace all my worn out vinyl I don’t think I’ll be buying it all for the third time.

  • We set up a specific site for Beatles day as part of our shopping mall with all the new box sets and the rock band game ect, don’t worry not a plug we are not in Aussy! but I saw you had a poll here asking what people bought, and just to let you know some real time results, we had a pre-order frenzy for just the individual, new re-mastered CD albums on their own, it would seem that most of the box sets were all booked in advance, but also the price ight be a bit much! We’ve sold 2 box sets for every 10 individual CD albums from the box sets, seems the people just want to hear at least one of their personal favourite albums in new, glorious stereo, so far the new re-mastered beatles white album is the clear leader in all of this, we have only sold about 2 of the rock band games for every 20 music items. Hope that was not too boring a comment, cheers, say hallo to my favourite Pelican in Melbourne!
